Belle Chasse Academy opened its doors on September 5, 2002 to 600 military/DoD dependent children in the greater New Orleans area.  Since the first year the school routinely serves 900+ students each year.  While long in the conceptualization phase, the school rapidly became a reality between October 2000 and September 2002 through the joint efforts of the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve; the Commander, Naval Forces Reserve; and the first Board of Directors of Belle Chasse Academy, Inc., backed by the active support of elected officials, businessmen, and community members  

A Louisiana Type II charter school, housed in a modern 92,000 square foot facility, the BCA learning community is dedicated to meeting the unique educational needs of the military child in the 21st century.
